• 2015-2016 Points of Pride

    • Washington Township School District was Named to the 6th Annual AP Honor Roll, one of 425 school districts in the United States and Canada named to the College Board's 6th Annual Advanced Placement (AP) Honor Roll/  The award is presented each year to districts that are able to expand access to AP courses to a more diverse group of learned while simultaneously improving performance.  The honor is the second for the District, which also was honored in 2012.
    • Orchard Valley Middle School Drama/English teacher Amy Leso was named a 2015 Exemplary Secondary Educator by the New Jersey Department of Education. Leso, the school’s 2014-15 Teacher of the Year, was among 60 Exemplary Educators across the state lauded for their exceptional instructional practices and student learning results in the classrooms, as well as their educational accomplishments beyond the classroom. They also are  recognized for their engaging and inspiring presence that motivates and impacts students, colleagues and the community..

    • Washington Township High School Varsity Boys Soccer, under the direction of Head Coach Shane Snyder, captured it's second consecutive NJSIAA Group IV state championship -- and second all-time -- with a 1-0 triumph over West Orange. The Minutemen also claimed the South Jersey Group IV championship with a 2-0 victory over Eastern, the program's second sectional title in a row, the third in four years and fourth all-time. The Minutemen also won the Olympic Conference American Division championship, and were runner-up in the South Jersey Soccer Coaches Association tournament.
    • Washington Township High School’s school store was among 316 school-based enterprises in the United States achieving Gold Level Certification this year and will be recognized at the DECA’s International Career Development Conference in Nashville, Tenn. The students who worked on the certification were junior Darren Capano, junior McKenzie Clifford and senior Jenna Patrone, with the assistance of DECA adviser Miss Alex McBride and school store adviser Shannon Molloy.
    • The Washington Township High School Air Force Junior ROTC unit, under the direction of Commander Lt. Col. Beth Ann Lumpkin and former Commander Lt. Col. Jere Gainer, recently earned the 2015-16 Distinguished Unit Award from the Department of the Air Force. The recognition from the Air Force JROTC Headquarters was a result of the unit’s outstanding inspection results conducted on March 3, 2016. The award recognizes the personal growth and accomplishment of the cadets, the contributions of the instructors as mentors, and the support of the school and local community.

    • The Washington Township High School Students in Action (TWP SIA) group was recognized by the Jefferson Awards Foundation to represent all "Ambassador Schools" at national ceremonies in Washington, D.C. Ambassador schools have been recognized as their region's best in community service leadership twice in a row. In the ultimate student service-related honor, the Ambassador schools voted TWP SIA tops in the nation, in large part because of the powerful video created by graduating senior and SIA leadership team member Abigail Haley.
