Hello! I wanted to write a letter introducing myself as well as some of the procedures of the classroom. My name is Dana Durmala and I am the PSD/ASD Teacher at Grenloch. This will be my tenth year teaching in the Special Education field. Most of my experience includes working with the Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) population and some of this experience took place right here in Washington Township. I graduated with my Bachelors Degree in Elementary and Special Education and American Studies in 2007 from La Salle University. I also recently earned my Master’s Degree in Education this past spring. I am fun loving and enjoy reading, art, music and physical activities such as swimming and playing all kinds of sports. I am also easy to talk to so if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to approach me.
I believe that a connection between home and school is essential for student growth and learning and hope to have open and continuous communication with the families of the students in my classroom. In order to accomplish this, each student will have a “Take Home” folder. In this folder you will find important announcements and other papers the school will need to send home as well as our “Pre-School Daily Sheet”. This daily sheet will be sent home every day to communicate to families what we did in class as well as to communicate successes, milestones, things to work on, noted and reminders. You may also use this folder to send notes and the like to school as these folders will be managed every morning and afternoon. I also hope to get emails and phone numbers so that I can keep you updated on your child’s progress.
I am sure I will be getting to know both you and your child as the year progresses. As I stated earlier, please feel free to contact me about any questions or comments you may have about your child. My work email is firstname.lastname@example.org. You may also call and leave a message on my voicemail at the school. For now my extension is 4441. I will notify you if this changes. I look forward to working with you throughout the school year! Don’t be a stranger!
Ms. Dana L. Durmala, M.A. Ed
