Searching the Internet
lists some seach engines and directory sites. Since each one has its own "flavor," try as many as you have time for --- each one should come up with different links.

  • Trips with kidz - The site http://www.tripswithkidz.com offers various tips on travelling with family, especially kids. For instance, a clickable map gives you information on the 50-odd states of America; each page contains did-you-know-that facts. Membership provides more information.
  • tuttinsieme.it: World Travel Directory (links for Art and Museums, Towns, Transportation, etc.)

  • US State Department: Travel Warnings & Consular Information Sheets (for every country in the world)
  • Virtual Guidebooks ("uses immersive imagery {virtual reality panoramas} to allow you to travel, virtually, to interesting places.  Each panoramic image shows you exactly what it is like to be in that particular spot — you can look in any direction, as well as up and down. You can zoom in and out, and some images have interactive captions that tell you just what you are looking at.  The panoramas are arranged geographically, with maps to help you locate the area you want.
