“Our AP program succeeds because of the efforts of some of the finest teachers in the Washington Township School District, the great support of our Board of Education, our superintendent, our curriculum department and supervisors and our community,” WTHS Principal Ann Moore said. “This AP Honor Roll designation is in great part because of the efforts of our former director of guidance and now executive assistant principal Jonathan Strout and our current director of school counseling Jennifer Grimaldi. They worked very closely with our teachers, to ensure that they had the training and materials they needed, and with our student body to build up a strong interest in the AP courses.
“Our students are aware of the rigor of the courses,” Moore continued. “They are willing to put in the work and are motivated to become successful students. This doesn’t happen without the support that our students receive at home – a foundation that teaches them the value of seeking the best possible educational opportunities. This really is a community award, and we are proud of it.”
The Board commended the high school administration for its work in expanding access to and ensuring success in AP courses for a more diverse group of leaders. It also applauded the personal commitment of the AP teachers for this commitment to the creation of relevant and challenging learning experiences and the delivery of high-level instruction. Board of Education Recognizes WTHS for Placement on 7th Annual AP Honor Roll
Members of the Washington Township Board of Education presented certificates of recognition to Washington Township High School principal Ann Moore, executive assistant principal Jonathan Strout, director of school counseling Jennifer Grimaldi and the school’s Advanced Placement (AP) teachers following WTHS’ selection to the 7th Annual Advanced Placement (AP) Honor Roll. Washington Township was one of 425 school districts in the United States and Canada to be cited for expanding access to AP courses to a more diverse group of learners while simultaneously improving performance. The honor is the third for the District, which currently offers 26 advanced placement courses at WTHS. WTPS was one of only 40 districts in New Jersey to earn the current honor roll distinction, and one of two districts in Gloucester County to be recognized.
