WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP – It was Dr. Seuss’s birthday on Thursday, March 2nd, so the staff and students at Thomas Jefferson Elementary celebrated Read Across America’s Seuss-induced spirit by hosting an exciting group of guest readers from the Washington Township community and school district.
The visitors included: Washington Township Mayor Joann Gattinelli, Police Chief Pat Gurcsik, Board of Education President Ginny Murphy and Vice President Bob Abbott, Director of Elementary Education Gretchen Gerber, and District Principals past and present Steve Buono, Colleen McLaughlin and Ann Moore, among others. All the guests read different books – many of them written by Dr. Seuss – to their assigned classrooms.
Once they were done reading the book, the honored guests took questions from the class and spoke about how important reading is at every stage of a person’s life. The program was organized by Thomas Jefferson Reading teacher Sheri Biesiada.
