WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP – Four Chestnut Ridge Middle School students attended the 2016-17 Middle School Student Leadership Institute held on Thursday, January 5, 2017, at Camden County College in Blackwood. The event is held through the Educational Information and Resource Center’s (EIRC) New Jersey Network to Close the Achievement Gaps (NJNCAG).
With the theme of “Rise up and Chase Your Dreams,” the goal of this one‐day Institute is to help support the development of the leadership and academic potential of diverse students in NJNCAG middle schools. The aim is to 1) enlighten sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade students about their roles as potential leaders in their schools and communities; 2) help them learn critical skills for effectively addressing their challenges in school and in life; and 3) empower them to make sound and success‐producing decisions about their futures.
The CRMS students attended the institute with the school’s Instructional Media Specialist Mrs. Elizabeth Thomas. They include (pictured above, left to right): Nyima Banutu-Gomez, Savion DiDomenico, Mrs. Elizabeth Thomas, Jasmine Gedeon, Aaliyah Muhammad.
