WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP – Orchard Valley Middle School seventh-graders in Mrs. Janine Navarra’s Read 180 class recently passed the 1 million-word milestone during their independent reading rotation. Passing 1 million words was one of the class’s goals at the start of the year, and now they are going to work toward reaching 1.5 million or even 2 million words before the end of the school year, Navarra said.
To celebrate 1 million words, the class enjoyed donuts and watched a movie as part of their reward. In addition, the students each received a certificate with the amount of words they contributed, as well as a notation of another accomplishment that was unique to them.
