WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP – The Washington Township High School Symphony Orchestra, directed by Mrs. Judy Pagon, used part of their Spring Break to travel to Washington, D.C., to take part in the Symphonic Series for Bands & Orchestras held at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
The orchestra arrived in Washington on Saturday, April 8th, and enjoyed a day of sightseeing. That evening, they took in a performance by the National Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center. On Sunday, the ensemble received coaching and adjudication during a private workshop with nationally recognized clinicians.
The highlight of the trip was on Monday, April 10th, when the WTHS orchestra had the opportunity to perform in a concert at the Kennedy Center. Along with Washington Township, three other bands performed: the Bridal Path/Montgomery Elementary (Lansdale, Pa.) Select String Ensemble; the Buchholz High School (Gainesville, Fla.) Wind Symphony; and the Cheyenne Mountain High School (Colorado Springs, Colo.) Symphonic Band.
